Our little girl Ms. Lindy has torn her ACL and is going to have surgery in ten days. She is in great shape and is very active for her age (9). Has anyone had good results with this type of surgery and how well did your child recover. This is my first post and our Vet said she should do "well"
Is your dog 9 months, or 9 years old? How did she injure her leg, and which leg is it? I hope you have a vet who is extremely competent, and a specialist in microsurgery, and brachycephalic anesthetic. Be prepared to have a scrap to keep her still after the surgery. Most Bostons have surgery, and you'd never know it. Good luck to you and your dog. Sorry, I reread your post, and I see your dog is 9 years old.
Our 11 yo Maltese tore her ACL, and after a lot of research and reading on the internet, we decided to not have sny surgery and did the conservation management with her. Luckily she was small, so carried her up and down the stairs and didn't put her up on any furniture without staying in the room to make sure she didn't jump down. She did wonderfully and no surgery. Check out Yahoo groups. That's where I got a lot of advice and you can see posts both in the Conservation Mamagement or the one regarding orthopedic surgery...I don't recall the name of that group right now, but both groups were extremely helpful to me.
