I have been unemployed since 3/19 and I am now bored of the same old thing. I have accomplished quite a few projects around the house but I need something else. *I cleaned out the attic and had a tag sale *My husband and I put up a 750 foot fence around our whole back yard. (we have 6 dogs and they are on the invisible fence but we needed to protect the neighborhood farm animals from them) *planted a garden *did some landscaping *cleaned out all closets *kept a clean house *looked for jobs(only 4 interviews- no jobs yet) *taken a few computer classes(to brush up on skills) that the county pays for *painted two decks
The job search isnt going well, I have applied to every job remotely to what I am qualified for but still nothing. Gas prices are around $4.00 per gallon and I live in somewhat of a rural area. That means I have to drive to get a decent paying job. It just gets so frustrating. The job that I was previously at was a mile away from the house and I was making very good money there. Now, the jobs that I went on an interview for were over 20 miles away and paying almost $6 less per hour than what I was making a mile away. What am I supposed to do now? It just gets very depressing sometimes. The kids will be off from school in a couple of weeks so I have time with them- but they have jobs so I have to drive them around.
Yeah I live in Michigan and we have a high unemployment rate.It does get borring fortunately I found a good job after about 2 months.I worked as an Office Manager for 4 years and the owner sold out all 4 of his stores.I then worked for a drug and alcohal rehab which was owned ran and all the workers were scientologist.Thats fine by me but when you force others to abide by the rules of scientology and threaten thier job if they dont tell the patients (which they call students) the lies and myths and also when you tell me I cant have a day off for a funeral and that you are sorry about my luck then I will pass and look for another job.I got lucky and found a good job that pays well after about 2 months.I wish you luck.Did you register with Monster.com?
First of all, make the kids save their money to buy cars and gas. I was lucky, my first job was walking distance and I paid cash for my first car before I even had my learner's permit. It was a POS, but it got me from point A to point B.
Good luck in your job hunt. I hope you find something reasonable soon. Just remember, something is better than nothing until you can find something better to hold you over.
Most "work from home" deals aren't worth what little you make at them, so you are probably better off finding something else unless you have a special skill and can start your own business. What about babysitting or opening a daycare? There are government programs that will help with that.
Here's some inexpensive hobbies you might consider picking up until then. . .
Knitting/crochet a new workout plan like Pilates or Yoga learn a foreign language drawing bead work sewing/needlepoint walking/hiking paper art/origami writing poetry/plays/stories/journal
You could always learn to count cards and make a living gambling. Just kidding! please don't!
I like most cats better than I like most people. I'll try to be nicer if you try to be smarter.
Hey! I work from home, I started my own business making photo albums and french memo boards! I love it, and I have time with my 2 young boys. Especially with summer here, I won't have to pay for daycare/summer camp. I'd be working (at a "regular" job) just to pay someone ELSE to watch my kids! I have a website, but I doubt that I can post it here (b/c of forum rules).
I got started on ebay, making albums and selling them there, and it just gradually evolved to me having my own website. I rarely sell on ebay now, things are good.
My advice is if there is anything that you like to do, test it out on ebay first, see if there is any interest. Then you can take off!
Perhaps this is the time to "think out of the box"! Get creative. Your list of completed projects shows initiative and follow through. Obviously you can produce. However in this era of cost cutting, cut backs and high gas prices, perhaps you would consider establishing a "discreet affair" with some atrractive younger man to totally take your mind of the "in the box" thinking of seeking employment. After a few sexual trists you might find a renewed vigure to redirect your thoughts and energies to start your own "dating" club!
I don't have the actual license, but I do day care for family and close friends of the family. Right now I just have 2 kids daily, my 28 month old nephew and 5 1/2 month old niece. Although I might be adding a third with the cousin of my niece born a day before she was.
I have also thought about going to the classes so I can foster children.
Pen how many foster children do you have? I have 4 that are considered foster children but I didnt have to do any classes because they are immediate family.I been looking in to it in my state and there are some programs I can sign up for but right now my hands are full.
