my dogs were house broken and did well for a long time, now they have forgotton everything they learned being they arent puppies anymore how to i start over?
Chance is just over a year but hes the worst right now, he will pee anywhere and everywhere and i take him out and he does his business but he will pee on my rugs ect.
Lola just had a liter of puppies and they are almost 4 weeks old and i started to notice her peeing on my bedroom carpet not as much as chance but i just cleaned the mess up being she was pregnant and i thought her bladder was full alot more and now after puppys thought she ddint want to be away from them .. ya stupid of me to think that.
these dogs were never crate trained i tried and failed and couldnt keep to putting them in when they would cry, they both sleep with me well lola at the end of the bed so she can watch her puppies all night ( whelping box in my room)
are they both just lazy? how to i start all over again with them being probably set in their ways? i get so upset and fustrated to come home and find pee all over everything. i cant block off areas now with the puppys in the whelping box and my room seems to be the warmest part of the house and also with cats i thouht this just was better.
how can i start over? i dont think crate training is a option. but house breaking them ? Im sure lola will get back to good she is just over 2 and i dont have nearly the trouble with her but chance .......... he doesnt let me know when he has to go and i do take him out often, i dont punish him for the pee puddles as its my fault hubby thinks we need to punish them but once they walk away i was told you cant do anything they arleady forgot about it. i use natures maricle for clean up and also this other product stop stink o rsomething like that , crap it was 30.00 and claims to take any urine smell out my house is tile but bedrooms are carpet. chance is marking maybe he pees on trash can or anythinng on the floor. he does have a appt to be neutered tuesday my vet has been backed up i guess ive been trying for the past month to get him in but booking this far out for spaying and nuetering. thinking about calling anther vet. do you think once hes fixed this will help?
is he jelous more time is spent with puppies and lola? chance gets right in the wheping box and plays and sniffs the puppies i think he knows hes the dad..lol he will lay at the door of the whelping box while lola comes out on the couch or something its like its his turn to baby set and he does sit there till she comes back. very cute. but them pissing on everytihng isnt. they dont pee in my bed. so they know that part. i only work for 6 hours a day and theyn dont even hold it for that long, i do free feed and water and maybe i should pick the water up at 8 and when im gone to work? but with lola still nursing she needs as much water as she can get right?
any ideas? im at my witts end with chance really, im sure lola will get back to good once the puppies are bigger and go to new homes. but i know most dog mothers dont start peeing in the house just because of having a liter so this isnt a reason but started shortly before and after. no signs of infection did talk to my vet about it.
should i block him off in the kitchen or something? i have normally alwats blocked off bedrooms with baby gate so they could only be in kitchen and living room and dinning room, its all open and no way to block one room off (open floor plan) so they have roam of this part of the house but not the bedrooms or bathrooms- they will pee on any rug that is down, which is my faualt for using potty pads when i first got them and when i go to work i was putting a pad down because they were peeing when i was gone and thought that would help but now they will pee on any rug that is down , they htink its a potty pad.
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH were did i go wrong???? where to start over? how to start all over again?
First of all, how old are your dogs? Do you have a doggy door, and a fenced in yard? Even better, are you out in the country? I'm afraid that your best option is to crate train your male, because neutering him at this point won't stop him from marking. Just put your crate in the open where he can go into it, and put his toys in there, and a couple of treats.Leave it like that, and then bite the bullet and start again, use earplugs if you have to. Make sure there's nothing he can hurt himself on, and that his nails are clipped well.Take the water away at about 8 o'clock, cover the crate, and say night night Chase, when you put him to bed at 11 or so. Take him out to do his business before you put him in the crate. Do not open that crate ! (Tell me how old he is first) He may have to be let out once at night still. You will have to gate off an area in the daytime, don't let them ruin anymore of your carpet. The main trick to training dogs to potty train is consistence, and not caving in. Don't take Lola'a water away, she's still nursing. My advice for her is a large x-pen, until the pups are weaned, and then you must crate train her too! Don't worry, it will happen if you stick to your guns, and don't give in.
