I'm a bit of an insomniac and was up quite late/early this weekend watching Animal Planet. There was some show on about hero animals. The story on this episode was about a pitbull owned by a family in Georgia. The family found her as a stray puppy and the mom,"against her better judgment," agreed to keep her. One day the kids and dogs were outside playing when the pit started barking like crazy at the grill. One of the boys went to check it out and saw a huge cotton mouth under the grill. Long story short the dog jumped in front of the kids and took two bites from the highly poisonous snake. The dog survived the ordeal and received some kind of comendation from the state of Georgia for saving her kids. Why didn't we hear about this story? The media will report stories about pit bull attacks without even verifying if the dog was really a pit or if the dog was provoked.
Your right, the media will jump on the chance to report an incident with a pitbull but let a pitbull do something heroic they push that reporting to the side or bury it completely. What a dog, he or she should have been on every TV station around the world being praised for its bravery. May be that would at least open some peoples eyes up that this breed of dog is not as bad as everyone thinks. My stepdaughter has three and they are the biggest babies.
