I have three dogs. My last one is the shih-tzu I just posted about with skin Fold dermatitis. But he also has SIBO (Small intestine Bacterial Overgrowth) and my other rescue, a male Yorkie, has IBD. Both dogs, obviously have suffereed severe diarrhea and the Yorkie has also experienced upper and lower distress. At any rate, after many, many rounds of antibiotics (which never helped and in some instances made things worse)I started (with the help of a nutritionist)both dogs on probiotics and digestive enzymes. Both dogs are doing so well that I could almost cry with joy. If anyone is interested in learning or following this type of natural healing (of course, diet is critical too), give me a holler. YOu might be pleasantly surprised and your pooch will thank you. YorkieSue
YorkieSue- We have a two year old male boxer who has been suffering with IBD since we got him as a pup. He has undergone countless food changes and is still on a pile of meds. I've used Prednisone, Metronidazole, Tylosin, Sucralfate, and Pepcid in various combinations and amounts and still not happy with the 'outcome'. I know this is a permanent condition that requires management but I would like to get him on minimal medication. He eats nothing but his Hypoallergenic Duck and Potato kibble. He gobbles up two meals of three cups each a day and still looks for food. He's happy, active and gained back the weight he lost last year when things were bad. A colonoscopy confirmed the IBD diagnosis. I am interested in the success you had and would like to hear more about what you've done. Thanks.
