hello there, got a big problem. actually my dog is the one with the problem. Whenever my yorkie goes outside he scratches and kicks at the grass, and away it goes here and there. My poor grass has huge spots that are bare or where the roots are barely hanging on. He does this all the time not just when he uses the potty. How can I train him not to tear up my lawn.? HELP...... Does any else have this problem?
Are you sure that the bare patches of grass are from your Yorkie kicking up grass? Isn't he kind of small to do such major destruction ? Good thing you don't have boxers. They do this also. As for my grass You could try playing with him or distracting him. As for me I call it aeration. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Can't help admit that I chuckled imagining this cute little Yorkie kicking up grass. I also have dandelions that I call flowers. So I guess you can see where I am coming from. Have fun with your little grass aerator!
It wouldn't be so bad if my yorkie was small. But I have a regular size yorkie 19lbs. I know dogs scratch after going to the bathroom, but my dog digs into the grass kicking up large tuffs of grass all the time. He looks like a bull who is getting ready to ram.
I have 2 intact males that not only kick up the grass, they graze on it, and one digs furiously till he gets a hole, and then bites the grass and dirt all the way round the hole. Sometimes I wonder about their sanity.
That is so funny because our little yorkie (6lbs, but overweight) does the same thing. Not on the grass though because she would not hear to going outside and doing it. She does it on my carpet. If she is looking out the door and sees a squirrel or anything, she thinks she is sooooo big and then goes the back feet. She is a hoot.
