I have written before about my dog and his issues. He was a runt when we got him and very lethargic and sleepy. He was looked at by our vet and one in a bigger city and they could find nothing. He had no other symptoms to suggest anything was wrong with him and began playing and became the biggest character you've ever met.

Now at 7 months his issues have started to show more and I am taking him to a large animal hospital. Before I go I want to tell them what I want tested. Here are his problems, please let me know what I should ask for other than a that hip x-ray for dysplasia.

Wobble
it is clear that something is wrong with his leg. It seems as though one may be longer than the other or that one cannot bend as much. He CAN and does run but is usually slow and loses balance. I thought this was dysplasia but you can see the difference in his legs.

Twitch
He has this little twitch that is steady that we were told was from a 'bad' distemper shot. This is the most annoying thing to research - is it a tick, twitch, tremor? It is almost gone now, only shows when tired.

Teeth
He lost his baby teeth and has only grown in a few teeth, maybe three. He still eats good.

Mosquito Allergy
His face swelled and you could see EVERY bite. He got a tiny bit of benadryl and lots of water and was okay. Next night - same thing. Now we have him netted in at night.

An examination and the xray may show some misalignment in his leg. It would be hard to guess at what causes the "wobble". My dog also has what I think looks like a shiver sometimes when he is resting. Our vet saw it and said it was not a concern. Some dogs are wired that way and he is indeed more high strung so I just keep an eye on it. I am not sure how long it takes for adult teeth to grow in after the baby ones fall out but if he is eating well you can wait it out. As for the reaction to bites, my experience was extreme. My dog's eyes and face started to swell. Our vet gave me a few Prednisone pills to use in emergency (along with Benedryl) when we were out on our boat and couldn't get to a vets. I actually had to use them once and was glad that I had them on hand. Sometimes the reactions can get worse over time. These were wasp or bee stings but she reacted to mosquito bites as well with big welts on the site of the bites. Let us know how you guy is doing.

He does eat so his teeth don't worry me too much. I can see them coming in now. He just looks like a little old man with no teeth. He still eats good though and we separate him from his brother for meals so he can take his time.

I keep a little sheet of mosquito net around and drape it over him like a tent when he is sleeping or chilling. I will try to get some of those pills to have around just in case. Thanks again!

Yes, please let us know how the your Frenchie is doing with his leg issue. He must be very sweet and I can imagine the 'toothless grin'. We live in Canada and with the warm weather gone we don't have to worry about nasty insect bites for a while....for me and the dog!
