We've had this 6 month old dog for a little more than a month. Our home is his domain. On Christmas eve my sister's boyfriend brings a Toy Yorky. My pug at first thought it was a toy and tried grabbing it. We quickly removed the smaller one away. The next day I tried introducing it again and it smelled the paws of the little one then took a little nibble of it and the little one started crying. What can we do to get them to get along. I asked my vet this morning and said since they're both male, to keep them away at all time since my pug can tear that dog into pieces within seconds. What do you all recommend?
I agree with your vet..but if they are going to be together get a muzzel for the pug. And slowly introduce them that way. Many owner make the mistake you have by throwing to dogs together let only two male dogs. Take it slow. -animalover11
I suggest you wait for a couple of weeks, and then introduce the dogs outside of your house, maybe in a park, or if you live in the country, in a field. It will take some time for your dog to accept the pup, especially in his home turf. Good luck with them.
