i have a 4 month old english bulldog and i was brushing him today with his brush and found that he has a lil scab on the lower part of his neck. i pulled off the scab to let it breath is there anything i can do to keep it from spreading? can i put alcohol on it? hellppp!!!
You might want to take him to your vet and see if it's demodex. It tends to run in Bully's (more common than not really it seems. As long as you take care of it pretty quickly it's not usually that bad, it's usually localized but not always. Many just break out between three or four months the one time never again. If it ends up really bad you may want to check for an underlying immune disorder. It might not show up on a slide yet though. Iíd start on Interceptor or Ivomec anyway if it doesnít. Sometimes they donít handle a lot of protein well and that can cause scabs around the head and neck as well.
I wouldn't put alcohol on it, if anything, I'd use a little antibiotic ointment. If it's a small, single spot, it could be anything from a bite to a scrape. If there are multiple spots, yes, I'd have the pup checked to make sure it isn't mange or another systemic condition.
