Whats with all the odd names?

Naming our pup

My girlfriend and I were debating on what to call our pup when get him and I noticed some odd names for the father and mother of the pup. What's the deal? Why such a long name?

Not really sure about that...all of my doggies have at least 3 names and we usually end up calling them a "nickname" of some sort.

ie: we have Jon's Baby Madeline but we call her "Maddie" (we also have 8 others but I won't list all of them) but Jon's Madd Harley Davidson is "Harley"

We have just always used multiple names on all of ours.
Don't worry about tomorrow; it has never happened before.

That's their "call names". They do that with horses too.
