My shar-pei has learned to run with me when I ride my bike. She loves to run and I donít so we taught her to run with the bike. She loves it but I need to get her a harness. She doesnít pull when we walk but she loves to pull the bike. I know she enjoys it and I know that it is a competition in the CKC but how do I know it is for my dog. I am getting her the harness because she needs is to run with the bike but is it ok for her to pull weight. I have done some research but I am still not sure. Is there anyone out there that knows a bit more about pulling? How do I train her right? Would I need to change her diet? She love to speed the bike up, she gets us going about 10 MPH. Does she need any other special equipment? Please if you know anything that might help let me know.
I don't really know anything about this inparticular but I would make sure that before you start you get a complete and thorough check up from her vet and just give a heads up and let him/her know what you will be doing. Just as you would get a complete physical from your medical doctor before you begin a high-indurance exercise program, your dog needs to be checked too! Someone will probably be along with more and better suggestions but I thought that I would give you a starting point!
Have fun and be safe in the heat! Plenty of rests and water!
Best of luck!
