This is the first time to this site. I have a red hair male poodle who is 4 months old. I wanted to find a female mate. I don't know if I am on the right site for the answer, if not can someone tell me where I have to look. This will be the first time ever doing this.
Well first of all, poodles have alot of health problems. You have alot of time before even thinking about breeding, and alot of research. Eyes should be CERF tested, and Hips OFAed when he is 2yrs. No breeding before then. You should look for bitch who has also has this done at bare min. I am sure there are other testing that should be done also. You should have every female checked for canine std's before breeding. Some can kill or make you dog sterile. They you would put and ad up that you have a poodle for stud service. You had better come up with some reason why someone should use your stud. A show career of some sort. Obediance is probably the easiest. Just becuase he is pretty is not always a good reason to someone who owns a female.
My family has owned lots of poodles none of which ever had any major health problems always have lived long health lives and always have been great companions I do agree with have your dog checked out and finding a good female from a good breeder your don't want to be breeding genetically flawed dogs such as hip problems my last poodle I got from a pet store which to me screams a bad litter but he only had a weight problem and that didn't stop him from being a crazy hyper dog with lots of energy and his hips were a lil weird didn't quite walk normal but all our other poodles who we got from breeders have been in amazing health good luck
