Hi everyone, I have a problem and I hope I can get some advice. I have a 1 year old Dalmatian that will not stop barking at night. He will stand in one room and if I am in the other room, he will just bark. Or if I close the door to a room and I am inside, he will bark because I do not let him in. Same thing with the bathroom. The worst problem is during bedtime. He will not sleep alone and he will bark and bark if no one is in the room. He constantly needs someone around him....I give my dog attention, but I am not going to drop everything at 11 PM and start giving him attention because he does not want to sleep alone in the living room. Sure he will sleep on any bed or jump on my bed and sleep all night. But that can be uncomfortable sometimes because I am not always home late at night and he drives everyone else crazy.
If anyone can offer some advice that would be great.
It sounds like he always gets his way. He barks and you give in, so it has taught him to bark when he doesn't like something. At this point you can either ignore him and let him bark all night if he wants, or get an anti-barking collar. I personally prefer the spay, but there is also a shock.
He needs training. It is time for you to be alpha, becuase he has trained you quite well at this point lol
my dog used to be like that but that was when he was still a puppy. sometimes, he still does it so i just let him bark. but sometimes i give in and it seems like he needs to do something like pee or poop. sometimes, he just wants to get a little attention and then he stops.
i don't know if that was any help... maybe not.... sorry
