My Maltese snores real bad when she is sleep and appears to have difficulty breathing, gasping for air at times and also struggling to get air in her lungs. It seems like she has inflamation in her air ways. I have given her 1/4 tea spoon Benedril and have used medicated chest rub (children's)to no avail. Any remedies for her snoring? Benel
If your puppy is gasping for breathe it would be a good idea to have a vet check up to make sure there is not a medical issue you are dealing with. Some of my German Shepherds lightly snore sometimes[which I think is cute], but they are not gasping for breathe. Good luck getting the issue lined out.
How is her breathing during the day when she is awake? A vet check is in order here. I would be careful using too many home remedies of human meds on her without a vets guidance, not all things are safe for dogs.
A pug would be normal to snore loudly, but a Maltese... that would concern me..gasping for breath is not normal, are you sure it isn't having REM sleep, where they seem to be running, yipping etc in a deep sleep cycle? Sometimes my Dobes will sound gasping but they're not, just little yips and gasps and then they go into a lighter sleep.
