ok heres the situation me and my wife have three dogs we did have a place and they were inside dogs and could just wonder out side when they wanted, we moved and now they are out side dogs. i have a 4 year old female (fixed) she isnt the problem its my 1 and 1/2 old mastiff red nose pit mix he keeps attacking a rescue weve had for about a year. it wasnt until they had to be outside dogs that this starting happening. they always got along and never fought they have been togather for about a year now. nether are fixed once agian one is a mastiff/red nose pit the other is a sharpae mix any ideas?
we moved in with my aunts aunt and uncle until our loan comes thru for our house and her uncle dont want any animals in the house. i cant really afford to get them fixed at this moment i am laid off from work as many people in this country are right now. does anyone know of a low income vet in the alabama flordia area? if so please send me mail
The time frame of them being kept outside now is probably just a coincidence, more likely the 1.5 yr. old is maturing and testosterone is kicking in full swing now. Is the mastiff mix Bull mastiff mix? If so, this breed is notorious for not doing well with other dogs, especially same sex combinations. ( I have no clue about English mastiffs). These two males need neutered right away and that is probably your only chance of making it work, and even then it is not a definite. Try calling all surrounding SPCA's, Humane Societies, etc.. to inquire about low cost neutering. If you cannot get it done then perhaps you should consider placing one of them before you have a disaster on your hands, unless there is a way you can keep the two completely seperate.
im not sure what he is really he is kinda a rescue too. i recived him from a gentalman that was trying to sell them at the local flea market his dad i know was a pure bread red nose pit. not really sure what his mom was i know she was some type of mastiff. what i dont under stand is they have been togather a year now ever since i found thumper in our neighborhood with some sort of hole in his head possiably from a bb gun. they have been really good togather since then. i did find some ads for low income vet work like 78$ for one including neutering pain meds and rabies shot and 68$ for the other due to the size of the dogs. is this a good deal or should i keep looking?
There are several low cost spay/neuter groups. They give you a certificate which you present to any vet that accepts them. On a large breed the spay WAS $35, not sure what it is now though, but it's a darned sight less than the full amount.
