A friend of mine had 13 parakeets. (She did not know of this website and has not placed an ad, so I told her I would ask). She has a large indoor pool and keeps them in this room. The room does not smell like a pool as she has one of the electric covers that seals the pool so you could walk on it. There are about 6 parakeets in one large flying cage, two budgies in another cage, and the remainder in a third. The cages are very large, the parakeets not only get their seed and fresh water daily, but she gives them fruit and other foods that she has read would be in their natural diet. She has had them for 3 years, and recently four have just died. She has noticed they separate themselves from the rest and in the mornings, finds them at the bottom of the cage. The room has a controlled temperature and nothing has changed recently. Would any of you know of a reason that her birds are dying?
