My pomeranians coat is very flat and thin for a pom. His tail is curly. we did not buy him from a pet store (i know that they're all from puppy mills) but from some breeder. Did we get ripped off?? and he was the runt.
How old is the puppy? I have heard it is very common for even the best bred poms to go through what they call "puppy uglies". And really, most double coated breeds will go through some sort of ugly coat stage where it is thin.
My corgi's can go through this stage clear up to 18 months of age before they finally get their normal coat in and can look pretty scroungey in the mean time. Then their coat comes back and look like a different dog.
How old is he? If he is still pretty young, he is just going through that "balding" stage that all double coated puppies go through.
My mom's Pomeranian went through the same issue. She thought she would have a short coat for the rest of her life lol! But her adult coat started to come in when she was about 10-12 months old, it started to look long and fluffy.
I have the same issues with my Aussies because they also have double coats.
Animals, what animals? My children just have alot of hair!
