We recently got two female cocker spanile puppies from a breeder, but they will not go near my husband or any other man. When we got them they were four months old. We have had them for a month, but we are beginning to fear that they were somehow abused or hurt by the breeder. I need help to get them over this fear and to interact with my husband and other male people in our lives, any help would be wonderful
Let you husband do all the feeding. that is a good start. They should come around in time. As for the other men in your life, they will always be a bit reserved. Sign them up for obedience class, get them out. I had a female mini aussie who was that way when I got her at 5months. She has all kinds of issues towards all people, but with a lot of work and patience she is now living in a great family. If you are crate training them take a t-shirt or something with your husbands scent and put it in their kennel. Also, let him sit on the floor and let the pups come to him. It works best in a living or tv room. That way he can watch tv or somthing. It can take a while. when they come to him, give them a treat. they need the socialization to get used to men.
Where there men at the breeders home? My girl didn't have any men around, so that was why she was scard of them. it can take time, but they usually get it together.
