Hi! You see, I don't have a dog, and I don't have a lot of time for exercise and grooming. I have a big lot behind my house and a park, but a small yard. Any breeds you recommend? Thanks for your help!
You have to ask yourself what you want from a dog. Honestly -- if the first thing you say is that you don't have much time, I question whether a dog is really the right pet for you. If you "don't have time for execise," do you have time for training and companionship? There aren't many breeds I know of that will be content to be turned out in a back yard -- regardless of size -- to fend for himself.
The exercise requirement of dogs vary across different breeds. There are other factors to consider such as temperament, whether the dog is hypoallergenic, apartment friendly, light shedder or not. If the first thing on your mind is you don't have enough time for exercise, then I would not get a dog. They need exercise, attention and a lot of love. It is not fair for a dog to be brought in to a home that won't give it the basic needs beyond food and shelter.
