We have a lovely female Welsh Terrier that for the most part is a joy. She's very smart and as you Welsh owners know, very stubborn. My husband and I have been diligently trying to get this little lady to understand the concept of going potty outdoors. She is easily distracted when she's outside. A butterfly, bee, or a leaf blowing across the lawn will grab her attention and she loses focus on what she is doing. With patience, however, we can get her back on task. The problem being is that she will go out and sniff around,do nothing and come in and within 10 minutes has had an accident in the house. We give her plenty of time to find her spot and try not to rush the process. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hop onto you tube and check out the pee and poop on command video. Sounds really easy and I have two family members who did it and it worked for them. One has a French bulldog and the other a bull terrier. Owe Zeke is only10 weeks and we start this training method today.
Is this a problem with terriers? I have a maltese who is 6 months old and I am finding it impossible to house train him! I have tried all the usual things, praise when he goes outside and treat him, scold when he goes inside, take him outside in the garden where I will spend ages coaxing him, but to no avail! He still just comes back inside and pees or poops! I am now considering dog nappies, please someone help!
