Our 7 month old Boxer mix pup had turned very aggressive over the last 2 weeks and nothing in our lives has changed. We have a very small chihuahua who is 3 yrs old. SHe has snapped at him when he walks by her bit our chi on the face causing him to bleed. She snuck a bag of treats I tried to take away from her and she growled very loud and bit my hand with enough force to leave a bruise. We had been able to take bones and toys from her before with no problem. Not sure why the mood change and what to do. I have grabbed her by her neck and held her on her back until she calms down but then 20 mintues later she goes after the chihuahua again. SHe stalks him like prey trying to bite his little legs. Any Sugg!!
I have had extensive experience with bulldog breeds and this is not unusual. Your dog is simply trying to find is pack order. In a dog with a dominant disposition, you will often have a couple of these episodes during the dog's growth stages up to about 1 1/2 years. You must focus on dominance training. If you don't know what that is, there are lots of resources online regarding it. Never let you dog walk in front of you on walks, never let him enter doors before you. Always eat before him. Before you give him his food, act like you are eating it first. Correct behavior immediately before he even has a chance to escalate. If you have to, keep him leashed all the time at first so you can correct him immediately. Do not yell, simply calmly give him the command you want.
Food aggression is something you want to deal with head on. Keep exposing him to the stimulus and correcting bad behavior and rewarding good. It will pass.
