I thought I would share, and I hope link works. I was heading out with some friends last night when a 17yr old with no license tried to pass another car in a no passing zone and hit me head on. Me and my passengers walked away with brusies and scrapes, and I had a concusion. I went ahead to hospital due to my ribs were killing me, but turns out nothing broke just bruised. I can not tell you how lucky we were. I got to come home to all my children(dogs) and give them all a good kiss.
You probably have to cut and paste it, but it is the fire house that was called out. Go down to the second set of pictures, it will talk about an equipment fire. The 3 cars are there. The silver small car was behind me, the one on the side was the land rover that hit me, and I am the gold SUV with all the front and drivers damage.
I really like that Murano now, it saved us. We could have easily died from it.
Damn girl, you got hit hard! Amazing that you "walked" away from that. I hear that bad things come in three's. I don't know if that is meant for things to happen to the same person, it's just that something eerily similar happened to someone my wife knew.
My wife works at a doctors office. Until last Friday she worked with a young girl(24)that was interning in her office. They shared lunch that day. This last Sunday morning she (the intern) and 2 of her friends were ejected in a single car high speed collision. They were coming back from a night of gambling at the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. It is thought that she was distracted, missed her exit, fell asleep at the wheel or who knows, it is a casino, they could have been drunk. The exit @ Hwy 98 is the last exit off of the Suncoast Parkway before the freeway ends. She went through the barricade and slammed into the trees. The 3 died.
Thank GOD for your safety Illusions. You never know how much time any of us have or how we will be called home.

Oh WOW ! I am so relieved that you are OK. Those cars are pretty much toast. It's amazing you walked away with only minor injuries I hope you and everyone involved heal fast with no lastingeffects from the injuries. I also hope that kid learned a valuable lesson that day!!
Thanks all. I am really amazed how well we all turned up. My ribs are killing me though. It makes it hard to groom, and sleep. everytime I move I hurt.
The worst part of everything is the kids parents have very limited insurance, and may not be able to cover all the damages. We are having to file under our own insurance policies, and hope for the best. I am hoping we will not have to go to court for everything else.
Just tring to keep a chin up and hope for the best. I think it is going to be a rough road. I just wish I knew what he was thinking. NO license, and The paper said he had 2 passengers one 17, and one 15 that also went to hospital.
I feel like as soon as I start getting ahead, everything falls apart. Trying my best not to get depressed, but it is hard. Sorry to ramble, have to vent somehow and keep my sanity
Illusion...you are so lucky and I am glad you are safe. You will probably be quite sore for several days, maybe even weeks! Here's sending you good thoughts, positive vibes and prayers that you will feel 100% very soon!

You came out of that crash alive. That's a pretty good reason not to be depressed !!!
Never had a rib injury but from what I have heard from people who have, it is a God awful pain and it hurts even to breathe =(
I have no idea what the stupid kid was thinking. Would love to know what the stupid girl was thinking last year when she totalled my beloved Grand Prix. You have no idea how terrified I am to have my son behind the wheel in a year.
I know the feeling of finally getting somewhere and having it all crash around you. It is doubly infuriating when it is something beyond your control and caused by an act of stupidity. It might be hard to to keep your chin up but everyone walked away from the accident more or less OK, cars can be fixed or replaced, and eventually everything tends to work out.
And if all else fails ............... Get smothered in doggie kisses !!!!
You have a wonderful guardian angel. I just logged on to this particular forum for the first time, so am just reading this. I am SOOOO glad you are safe and doing as well as can be expected.
Bruised ribs hurt as much as broken ribs and will take a minimum of 6 weeks to begin feeling better. You may be able to find a protection device you can wrap yourself with, to inhibit movement and pain.
I have broken ribs and so has my husband, and it is excrutiating for awhile. I am an advocate of holistic medicine, and would highly advise you to see an osteopath, or a chiropractor that practices applied kinesiology. This will tell them if your ribs are out of place, and having a thorough back alignment may do wonders for your recovery. Take care.

it is a couple weeks later, and ribs are healing well. I can finally sleep well at night again. the pain used to keep me up everytime I moved. Now if I could just rememer my knees are bruised I would be ok . I am constantly trying to knel down without thinking about.
I still havent heard squat from the insurance company. they have my car. The drivers parents didn't carry enough insurance so they may have to pro-rate the damages. If they give me to little, I will be sueing. I can not imagine carring so little insurance now adays. New cars are so expensive, and even slight damage is costly.
I will try to keep everyone updated as things get done. It is so annoying.
