So, I just wanted to share another foster failure story. I have recently fostered a little cane corso puppy and we have decided to adopt him to save him the fate of possibly going to a less than desirable home. This now puts us at 5 dogs. They are all awesome though. I just wanted to share.
Have you thought maybe of finding a Cane Corso rescue to place the pup, or help in placing the puppy? I am sure they would be more experienced in placing this breed in a responsible home VS an average rescue group that may not be as familiar with the breed.
Oh, no. We are keeping him. We don't want to find him a home. We are his home. He is an awesome little guy. His personality is so different from our other dogs but in a good way. Of course, I guess they are all different to an extent but I think his breed adds to the main differences. Thank you for the tips though. I just wanted to share.
Oh I understood that you were keeping him. My suggestion was aimed more towards the future, if you continue to foster animals. Since your reasoning for keeping this puppy can be used for basically any animal you or others take in, it might be better to think about placing specific breeds into a breed specific rescue that has experience placing their breed into appropriate homes.
Any animal has the potential of being placed into an unsuitable home, regardless of breed or mix, cat or dog, there is never a guarantee. If we have that frame of mind with each animal that is fostered, none would get adopted, no future dogs or cats could be fostered due to the amount of resident animals someone has and we could all star in the next season of hoarders lol.
Anyway good luck with your new addition and post some pictures of him soon.
