Hello I bought a min pin 10wk old boy last week. and feel like giving up already. Went and got a pet taxi and he has been barking non stop for 20 minutes now. He will p and poop in the house. hard to get him outside due to the cold weather. While out there, he won't do anything, bring him in and he goes on the floor. We have puppy pads on floor in a designated room for him, but avoids them. I put sum trianing spot stuff on pads, and still no luck. My husband is a truck driver and i know will not be able to stand the barking in the pet taxi at night. the only time he will be quiet is when he is on our lap or up by out neck. Seriously need some suggestions. Please help! Michelle
First....take a deep breath! This is something you will go through with most puppies, but Min Pins are especially stubborn, lol.
The person you got him from would be an invaluable source right now. Find out how they kept him prior to coming to you. Was he newly seperated from mom and siblings right before you taking him? Did they work on outside or did they use puppy pads or newspapers? To get a good start get the details so you can make things as similar as possible to give him the feeling of comfort and allow him to settle in some more before expecting too much out of him.
Depending on how the breeder worked with them will depend on how long his adjustment period will be. We generally have ours vrate trained and borke to newspapers and at least started on outside when going. We also be sure they are fully weaned from mom (weaned not meaning only not nursing from her, but emotionally and physically as well) if they were not given that period of full weaning it makes for a much harder transition to a new home.
If you need more help, feel free to PM me, I have raised and shown these little stinkers for alot of years now.
