I have a 9 year old pit bull named Spike. In the past 6 months he is having accidents on the carpet. He will do it while I'm gone or even at night while I am sleeping. Took him to the vet and he has had antibotics in case of a urinary tract infections and he also fixed. Vet said this would take care of the issue. He drinks water like it is going out of style.I have to take the bowl away or he would drink the whole bowl of water. At night I let him drink a little, take him outside and take the bowl away for the night. I have tried everything, any advice?
I thought of diabetes myself and researched it and he has most of the symptoms. I just got off the phone with the vet and in his record no mention of it was documented. She recommended bringing him back in for a exam and may need to have some blood work done. He has a appointment for Friday afternoon.

Definitely do the bloodwork. Not sure if your vet does the bloodwork in house or sends it to an outside lab but you'll want a full chemistry panel, cbc and urinalysis done. You can bring the urine sample with you to the appt. If you get the sample more than 4 hrs before the appt. keep it in the fridge until you leave. You can collect the urine in an aluminum pie tin and transfer it to a clean jar or tupperware container for transport.
My dog would chew them until they were soggy and then I would take them away and re-freeze them. Be patient but not too patient! You dont want him to continue chewing out of his puppy stage, we had problems with our lab munching on anything he could find.
