ONE OF MY CUSTOMERS, NEEDS HELP AND ADVICE FROM YOU GUYS TO TRY ON HER 1 YEAR OLD AUSSIE. THEY GOT HIM WHEN HE WAS 4 MONTHS FROM ME. I TOOK HIM A FEW TIMES AROUND IN CAR, I DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. THEY TOOK HIM HOME FROM HERE, ABOUT A 5 HR DRIVE. THIS COUPLE IS EXTREAMLY CARING OF THEIR DOG AND NOW NEW PUPPY, AND WORK HARD TO BE THE BEST DOGGIE PARENTS. THEY EVEN READ THE NEWS PAPER IN THE CAR A FEW TIMES A WEEK TO GET HIM INTO THE MOOD OF LOVIN TO RIDE! EVERY TIME THEY GET INTO THE CAR, HE STARTS THE SALAVATEING AND NERVOUS LOOK. THEN THE THROWING UP COMES SOON ENOUGH. HE IS A BIG GOOFY HAPPY DOG AND LOVES EVERYTHING BUT THE SUV OR DULLY TRUCK, IT DOESNT MATER. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD HELP!!
DOGS ARE NOT OUR WHOLE LIFE, BUT THEY MAKE OUR LIVES WHOLE. ROGER CARAS
I have a dog that was exactly like that when he was younger. The nervous, upset stomach & salivating and then he'd throw up generally 3 times by the time I could get him back home. So the way I was able to cure him of it was by taking him short distances and leaving him in the car alone. Like to the grocery store a very short distance from my house. I'd leave him in the car while I shopped, starting out at 10-15 minutes. Giving him time to settle down and then would come back and praise and pet him and then go directly home. The most important thing is not to feed him anywhere near the time your going to have him in the car. My vet. said it would be easier for his stomach to settle quicker while he was waiting by himself. Rather than increase the nauseau causing a negative experience. I'd also just put him in the car and drive around the block and go back home. I took him on many little trips building into longer ones. Now I can take him anywhere. Best of luck to you.
I don't have any suggestions. Nothing worked for me and one of my boys. I did everything, and tried all the over the counter stuff. Nothing worked. (I have mini aussies). I have a girl now who went to work with me 1 1/2hr trip everyday until she was 6-7months old. never got sick. Now she does every time. I know, so I put a waterproof cover on my back seat, and then lay some towels down. She throws up, I clean it up and move the towel. I put another down, but usually she only throws up onces. I have waterless shampoo for shows.
