My french bulldog female is coming in heat once again only after four months of her last cycle. Is this normal? I feed tuffy's feed and this is suppose to keep bitches on time for their cycles. Should I go ahead and breed her or not? Last time she only had one pup and it died. She is young.
how old is your bitch? she should be at least 18months, and preferably 2yrs old before your first breeding. Also she needs all her health clearances. do you know why she lost her last pup? Sometimes that can be an issue.
As far as breeding on the next heat even 4months, I don't see a problem if everything is healthy. normal heat cycles are not so normal. Each dog has its own cycle, and they are always subject to change on you. Make sure you do the research needed for your breed, and then breed accordingly. If all else fails, always check with a vet. A reproductive Vet is almost always the best one answering all times of breeding questions.
I have been raising and showing French Bulldogs for 35 years..I have never had a Frenchie come in season every 4 months without having some type problem ie: infection ,female irregularity. Some times if they are young they have a "wolf heat" then have the real heat. Other wise take her to a knowledgeable Vet who is used to dealing with English and French Bulldogs !!!!!
