My pomeranian is 10 months and has luxating patella. The vet said the surgery to fix this would be $2400 for one leg and $2900 if he needs surgery on both. Is this the average cost? Has anyone's dog had the surgery before? What can I expect? This is my baby, so of course I am nervous.
I have a 4yr old pomeranian puppy, and he had a grade 2 of Luxation patella when he was 1yrs old, and I was told to close him off in a small section of the house so that he would not move as much, and to limit him on walking and just to have him go to the bathroom only outside for 2 weeks, and as I did what the vet told me, my dog at the time was fine for 2 years, but now he has grade 3 on his left hind leg, and as I research about surgery, I notice that there is a 50% chance of it returning which means additional cost and suffering to my lil boy, so I was told to try glyco-flex by a friend, and the VET told me that my dog would have to lose weight as this contributes to the luxating patella, and since he is now losing the weight it has gotten better, but sometimes he is able to pop the knee back into the groove himself.
so I asking does anyone that has grade 3 of the patella on their dog know about or has not done surgery on their dog to know if glyco-flex works, as I am not deciding against the surgery as this cost me $2800 per leg, but for now just his left leg. NYC is my area
