We played our version of hide-and-seek several times a week and always her playacting was perfect. I would gobble at her and she'd throw me a fierce glare before racing away. But she'd wait for me to catch up! Whenever she hid her backside always stuck out. Sometimes she'd surrender and flop on the grass, belly up, then we would lie together in the sun in perfect harmony. Whenever we visited our neighbor who was usually working in her garden, Pinky waited patiently on the doormat or whatever took her fancy, until I told her "Come on, let's go home," then she'd head out with me. My friend always had this amazed, fond expression on her face while she watched her. I lost Pinky on February 23, 2011 and left a wide hole in my heart. I wrote "Meow's Way" about her and other pussycats and posted it on my site at www.authorsden.com/lucillebellucci. That little bit of life stayed only five years with me.
