Hello, I am new to this site and DESPERATELY need some good experienced advice.
We have 2 Border Collies, a bitch called Lily who is 7 years old, and a dog called Boy who is 3.
We recently bought a 7 week old Border Collie pup bitch called Pixie, one week later she was diagnosed with parvo virus and was in and out of vets for days.
I took Boy and Lily to my flat in the city while my mother kept the puppy to nurse her completely better to prevent the virus spreading.
The dogs were all reunited over the weekend and since then the progress seems to be very stilted. Lily is highly strung and is spending a lot of time on her own while Boy IS playing with Pixie but only once a day for maybe 10minutes.
Additionally, while we thought we were buying a very placid puppy, she has turned into an extremely high maintenance pup with a worryingly aggressive dominant nature. Her tail is always held high, she is VERY cheeky with the 2 dogs, she actually bit Lily on the face last night while serving food.
Will this get better? Are we over reacting? How do we discipline a pup who has this nature? The last time we had 3 dogs it did not work and we fear that the past will repeat itself. If this carries on, we will have no choice but to rehome her and it is tearing my mother and I to bits.
