My wife and I recently got a teacup Yorkie from what we thought was a reputable Pet Shop here in Okinawa Japan. She was acting a little funny, so we took her to our off-base civilian vet. The vet discovered her ears were extremely dirty, and found that she had some fleas. He cleaned her ears out, applied flea killer, and prescribed some liquid antibiotic, I guess to clean out her insides? He told us to give her 1 ml once a day, after about 6 hours she started puking, and had a bad case of diahhrea. We noticed what appeared to be a long white strip of skin in the diahhrea. We took that sample back to the vet, and asked what it was ... his only answer was maybe he prescribed too heavy a dosage of antibiotics. There was never any blood in her stool. The long white strip was not a worm of any kind. So my question is ... do I need to worry, any advice? She seems to be ok now. Sorry for such a long explanation.
I would take her to another vet asap. Buying from a pet store is not good. They support puppymills, backyard breeders and its inviting alot of trouble and pain. Please take her asap because these babies can go down fast. If her little gums are not pink, try giving her some Nutracal or kayro syrup to keep her blood sugar up. But, I would try another vet, sounds like this one doesn't know what he is doing. Good luck and take good care of that baby. Have 2 and love'em sooooo much. They are sweet babies.
