I am on here because out 12 week old puppy has had parvo since Wednesday and it is now Monday. She stopped eating on Wednesday and started vomiting and diarrhea. She was also very lethargic. We started giving her water through a syringe and mixed it with wet dog food. She was vomiting up everything we gave her. We started to give her pepmo bismol and powerade on Friday. She has not had her immunizations yet.
Yesterday she started eating and drinking on her own and did not vomit all of yesterday. She has not had a bowel movement since friday. Today we took her to vet but could not afford the $1100 medical bill to admit her for care. The vet gave her a shot to help her with her bowels and pills to help the vomiting. The vet also injected water under her skin to help with the dehydration.
I have a couple questions. First, she has not had a bowel movement since Friday and i was wondering when she will have one. Second, although she seems more active and eating and drinking on her own, is she really getting better? or are we out of the woods? if so how long will it take for her to fully recover.
I would recommend get your pup to the vet asap. I have had many dogs with parvo and all except three didn't make it. My two current dogs Jolie got parvo at 6 months and I nursed him back to health myself (pedalight (sp), lots and lots of water) and Gizmo who got parvo at 6 weeks I nursed her back to health on my own (I took her to work with me everyday for about a week).
I hope that your pup gets better parvo is not a fun thing to deal with. Best wishes
