Hi everyone, we just rescued a 5 month old yorkie/parsons terrier from our local shelter and we are having trouble potty training her. She will NOT pee outside, no matter how bad she has to go she will hold it until she comes right back inside. I take her out constantly, and she wont go. If i catch her in the act then run her outside to go, she will stop and not go anymore. she will hold it until i take my eyes off her for one second then she will go. I am crate training her and she does great all night in her crate. During the day while I am at work i use a baby gate to keep her in the kitchen. i have even tried using potty pads and as i catch her in the act i put her on that and again she will just stop going. She has used the potty pads during the day when im not home and shes in the kitchen. But then this morning she peed next to the potty pad instead of on it. I wasnt using potty pads in the beggining because i want her to go outside, but i was sick of her peeing on my carpet, so i have resorted to using them, and they still arent working for the most part. I thought if I could get her using hte potty pads then slowley move those outside to get her to go there then that might help. I have read so much info online and feel like i am doing everything right. but Ive never seen a dog who just refuses to go and will hold it as long as possible. can anyone please offer any other advice to get her to go?? Thank you!
