A few days ago, I adopted a 13 year old homeless golden retriever "Max". I also have a 7 year old beagle at home, "Chloe".
I had Max and Chloe meet in a neutral location and they got along very well. The car ride home was great, they seemed to really like each other. However, the second Max came home with us, Chloe did not want anything to do with him. She ignored him like no other. After about an hour, she started growling at him and tried to bite him.
We decided it was normal for her to feel territorial, especially in her own home, near her own food bowl, so we decided to separate the dogs into different rooms and feed them at different times. However, we tried re-introducing the two again in the home and Chloe once again attacked him...
We separated them once again and the next time we introduced them, we took them separately to a neutral location but the same thing happened. Now, i am worried Chloe will never get along with Max and I'm not sure what to do. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
