I am in heartache. I really hope someone here knows the answer. My springer girl, well...I thought she was pregnant. I was pretty sure she was. Even after witnessing a breeding where she "spit out" most of the semen, I was told she still probably will get pregnant.
Now? 6 weeks later...Im just not so sure. She is demanding more attention, and she has recently become VERY food aggressive, and has had a little weight gain, but not enough to actually count. Now, I'm really questioning this. It's my first time ever breeding springers and as hopeful as I am for a pregnancy, the vet didn't feel any "bubbles" when he palpated her tummy a couple weeks ago, and I'm just very doubtful.
One thing of particular note: She has this "lump" after she eats, when in the sitting position, that seems to protrude from one side starting at just under her rib cage all the way down to her undercarriage area. No nipple swelling, no milk, no unsightly huge puppy bump...just that.
I've been tolerant of her raging food aggression this week...but now I'm worried that maybe my hopes she is pregnant is evoking naughty behavior, and maybe I shouldn't be so understanding about it.
I was thinking of taking her back into the vet for an xray but I wasn't sure if he'd be able to see anything yet? I've also been told to just "wait it out" but I'm just dying to know lol!
Anyone have a similar occurrence and if so what was the outcome?
I also want to add that last night I felt what seemed like very tiny, and light "tapping" in her abdomen. I wasn't pushing, just petting (I know enough to know it's not safe to do an external palpation exam myself), but it felt, not really like wiggling, but more so tapping. My husband felt it too but said he thought it felt like indigestion. LOL I'd be a little out if I got all excited over a few gas bubbles...
