Hi there. I am new to this forum. I have an 8 year-old Shih tzu/Poodle Mix who had surgery to fix his grade 4 luxating patella about a week and a half ago.
Today I let someone else watch him. He was in a playpen and when he heard us come home he jumped up and out of the playpen and onto a bed then onto the floor. The bandage was stiff before that and now it is more in the natural shape of his leg. He hasn't cried at all and seems fine but I know this could have caused some damage, potentially might even make me have to get him the surgery again.
My problem is that it is the weekend and his vet is closed. I called the emergency vet and they said as long as the bandage hasn't slipped he should be okay? I am looking for advice as his next appointment with his vet is on Tuesday. Part of me wonders, if the damage is already done -- should it matter to take him in on a weekend and spend a small fortune getting told that he's damaged it or should I just wait and call my regular vet on Monday assuming that he is not in pain and seems unaffected?
