I just added a standard, coated, Xoloitzcuintli to my family 2 weeks ago. He is 6 months old and a beautiful and awesome pup. He loves cuddling and playing and already has a very strong bond to me and my boyfriend. The only thing is he is very timid around new people. He'll dodge any attempt at a stranger petting him and will run behind my legs or to the end of his lead with his ears back. I'm assuming he was under-socialized during the critical socialization period. Has anyone experienced these issues with their Xolo? Are they easily correctable? If so, what can I do? I do have a behavior specialist coming in a few days to work with him, but I'd like advice from Xolo parents.
