Today is the first REAL rain of the season in Southern California. TA DA TA DA! OK no biggie for you all. (I hear the catcalls coming from Florida, sorry) It has not rained in months here. Started last night. Today we haul the 60+# butts of many reluctant yellow labs to the door, reminding even the oldest of their forlorn faces, "GO POTTY"...My 10 mo. old has to be reminded. Come back inside. Now! She is all for a giant mud wrestling match and willing to take on all comers. A couple of the others need to be commiserated with. They think it's my fault. I tell them Wow it's WEEETT...Same way I usually curtail their play time w/ oooh it's Hottt... So todays menu for the yard patrol is Poop Soup, as we scoop, er, strain the yard this afternoon. Up side is I get to go back to bed with just SHORT potty breaks this morning. Bad side is I gotta get off the computer to do it.
I'm with you Kitty - I am also in So Cal and looking outside at the light drizzle which I haven't seen in about 9 months! 3 of my pups have never seen rain or been in it because they are 5 and 7 months old. It should be a fun day! Baths all around tonight!
Actually one of the 5 mo. old pups just showed me why potty breaks need to be longer. Has anyone ever had to have the jaws of life to pry them out of the entrance to a dog crate when they get stuck reaching to the back? I will go check the Guiness book.
Now it's really coming down. The two littlest ones are tucked inside in their crates. The bigger shelties are checking out the rain - and seem to be enjoying it! I am not looking forward to muddy carpet. But boy could we use the rain.
Fear not Desert Rose! I ordered a cessation of rain at noon, so it could dry up, let me go to work, make money, then start back raining at 8pm, so that I can go home early. I work in an outdoor patio restuarant. We do need the rain and I revel in it. Don't wear raingear or use umbrellas either.
I just spent several minutes taking pictures of Kitty at the back door wanting in...COVERED nose to tail in mud. She finds a puddle and digs...If they come out I will post them somewhere and let you know. I laughed myself completly to tears when I started. I'm not sure Kitty thinks it was that funny. But she got cookies while I made her pose.
Thanks for the crackers, Scout. I'm using them to get the dogs to go DIRECTLY into their inside kennels, w/o passing go/collecting rent or touching the couch with their muddy selves. I was serious about the ark. Now my personal size bowl of soup is large enough for all to enjoy. Desert Rose I hope flash flood did not get you yet. Oh, and POWER...rain dried up, I made good money at work the whole restuarant was full. Rain started back up just as I got home...Rain god made little people most grateful. We will do rain dance in her honor tonight. Care to join?
