My little love, Chico
It's been almost two years since your bright eyes closed for the last time, and I still miss you every day. I miss your darling ways, and even tho Sophie is a sweetheart, (you would love her!) she has not taken your place in my heart. Rather she has carved her own little niche there for herself. You were so much like a person that I don't think there will ever be another "dog" that I feel the same way about. You even trained me to be a better mother to Ethan, since I had been your mommy for such a long time before he was born. You were never jealous, instead, just adopting him as another of your babies, like you always did the kittens. I'll never forget the way you greeted everyone who came into our hotels, some of them staying with us because of you. I remember the fire jumpers in Battle Mountain that called you the Baby Chupacabra", beause you were so furry and fiesty. I remember the the biker named Wonder, who liked you so much, writing notes to you...most of all, I remember how you used to look up at me, with the most pure love in your eyes. I know how valiantly you fought to stay with me, how much you hated to be away from me, and the feeling is mutual. No matter how sick you felt, you were never nippy, and the vet techs just loved you. They cried when they heard you had gone, like so many others who loved you. Your little tombstone says so much-" Never was a heart more true than the one that lies at rest with you." I feel your loss very keenly now, since grandma left me on January 25th, and I'm learning to live life without you both, but it's so hard. Daddy and Ethan try to fill in the gaps, but they can't. One love cannot relace another. I will miss you both till I die. I visit with you both in my dreams. Mommy
