I miss you Ford. I will never forget you.
Ford was my best friend. He was a long-haired dachsund mix. We adopted him almost six years ago. He loved to lay on the couch with me and watch TV. He slept in my bedroom. He was my baby. He was such a good dog. He would always let me know if there was someone near the house. He loved to go for rides in the car. He passed away less than a week ago. My family and I went on vacation to Disney World and left Ford with a local animal hospital/boarding facility. We did a lot of looking around to find a place that we thought would treat him good and take care of him the way we did. Our judgement was way off. They let him out to run and go potty and he got away from them and took off looking for home. We found out over the weekend that he got hit by a truck not too far from the animal hospital. He died instantly. I feel so guilty. We should never have left him there. I won't ever go on a vacation that I can't take my pets with me on again. You just can't trust other people to care for your friends the way that you do. Anyway, Ford, I really miss you bubbers. I'm so sorry that I left you at that place. I wish there was a way that I could turn back time. We wouldn't have gone to Disney World. We would have gone somewhere where you could have come with us. And you would still be here. You would be laying on the couch with your head in my lap right now. Instead, I am sitting here in an empty house. The kids are at school and Will is deployed and I don't have you here to keep my company. Well boy, I guess that's all I have to say. I miss you and I will never forget you. Thanks for being there. I love you. Rest in peace.
