Gunner, my rock

We got a beagle named Bagel when I was two years old, he was the biggest sweetheart we've ever met. We always called him our "babyboy". A few years later, we got Gunner as a playmate for Bagel. When we first got him, he was a total terror which was the complete opposite of Bagel, we actually sold him because he was such a terrible dog that we couldn't handle anymore. Once we sold him, we were hysterical and needed him back, so, my parents went to the ladies house we sold him to and she told us she had dropped him off at the pound. The people at the pound told us he was a day away from getting ethuanized. Once we had him back, we kept him close all of the time. A few years ago, we left him outside to go to the bathroom and he chased a deer so far that he lost his scent home. We asked all the hunters we saw and they told us that once they cross major highways they can't find their scent home. After posting flyers everywhere and seven days later, we had given up hope. Right when we thought he was never coming back, a woman called us and told us she had found him and was taking care of him and to come to her house. After that, it was an absolute miracle that he was with ours and apparent to us that him being with us was fate. We found out he had bladder cancer last friday, and since then he had gotten progressively worse. The vet gave us medicine to help, but, it was obvious he was just too far gone. Last night, he passed away peacefully in the comfort of our home with my entire family there including our two other dogs who loved him dearly. We miss him already more than words can say, and I know that nothing will ever fill the spot in my heart that was his. Rest in peace Gunner, we love you.
