A great way to inform and better protect you from scammers

The below is from a Scammer! Some of the emails may not look like scams, but they all lead to the same thing. The scammer will pay by check (cashier's check/money order) for more then the pet is worth, then they will ask you to send them back the difference in money. A couple weeks later you find out the check was fake and the bank will take it out of your account. This scam can be set up several ways.

Some key points for pointing out a scammer:
1. Doesn't care much about the pet, just the transaction.
2. Says they will use their own shipper.
3. 95% of the scammers are from overseas (Nigeria, Israel, South Africa)
4. Pays you more then the pet is worth, then asks for the difference in money back.

Hi,

I am matt from Boston, massacheuttes. I am a civil/structural engineer. I got a contract abroad with JULIUS BERGER an engineering firm here in West Africa so I am presently here in West Africa working. I can proudly say I am the owner of a female Yorkshire - Terrier pup, named Cassie but it is sad to say, if I don’t give her away soon, I might end up losing her.

I purchased Cassie 3weeks prior to my arrival here in West Africa. The mistake I made was bringing her along. This week being my first here, I stopped by a pet store here to purchase some items for her and everyone around was shocked to see a Yorkshire because they hardly breed Yorkshires here. A generous vet who was around explained to me the dog wouldn’t survive the harsh African weather conditions that I should send her back home. Other people also agreed and advised me to do the same. I felt so sad about it as my job will keep me here for about 4months. This is going to be hard for me, as I love her so much. She is a great puppy full of energy. She is a very good and loving pet. She is smart and quick to learn too.

Frankly, I intend to give her out at no cost except for shipping fees that is just $380.00. I want her to be happy, safe and livelong in good hands. I feel the need to send Cassie back to the States where the weather and environment is more favorable and conducive for her. She is just 11weeks old, as you can see in the pictures. I would be wicked and selfish to keep her here. The weather and the environment doesn’t suit her at all and she stands the high risk of falling sick due to environmental and change in temperature, which can lead to instant death. Presently she is still very healthy and in great form that is the reason for my quick decision. I have been searching for whom I can send her to and who is willing to accept. The few people I know are not just fit for the job. I am guessing you are a dog lover and you are in a good position to own and take care of her. If you are willing to or know someone that can take upon his/herself this responsibility, please reply ASAP for details. Please act fast! It is very urgent.

Thanks,
matt
