German Shepherd Dog

People get dogs for various reasons. There are those who buy dogs for pets because they want something adorable to cuddle, while there are others who get dogs because they feel they need to express their sense of responsibility by taking care of a living creature. There are also those who get dogs because they can be used for certain sports or activities and of course, there are people who get dogs to guard their houses. People with disabilities get dogs to help them manage their daily activities and guide them when they go out. Other people also like to get dogs for companionship, whether it is for play or other physical activities.

If you need a playful companion to brighten up your life, you should consider getting the Ibizan Hound. This dog has an innate nature of playfulness that makes it ever ready for any game any time, especially when it involves leaping, running, and even prancing around. The Ibizan is at its happiest when it has something to do, as long as it is in the form of play. They are always eager to play, and they will jump onto counter tops, tables, and even refrigerators because they think that they are just playing a game with whoever is around.

While an owner can see this playfulness as bothersome at times, he can also see it as an opportunity to train his Ibizan to do things that are worthwhile. If there are no rabbits around for your Ibizan to sniff out and retrieve, you can perhaps train it to get the morning paper instead. Make the chore seem like a game and it will surely enjoy doing it, especially if it gets a doggie treat or a hug after that.

Of course, it also wouldn't hurt if you spend some quality time playing with your dog. You can play Frisbee with your Ibizan or you can train it to engage in several canine sports like canine eventing, flyball, and musical freestyle. An Ibizan can also excel in lure coursing, obedience competitions, agility, and tracking events as well as conformity showing. Because your dog is always eager to play with you and get involved in some kind of activity, it is very easy for you to teach it to excel in these sports and canine competitions.

Just bear in mind that you should not abuse your Ibizan verbally or physically during training because this will only lead to resistance and depression. Such treatment will also cause it to shrink away from you. Always make training seem like a game and you will get what you want out of your Ibizan Hound. You will be amazed at the results if you use your imagination to come up with games that will help develop its innate abilities. In no time, you will have a prize dog in your hands, one that you will be proud to show off not only to your family and friends but also in shows.
