Yorkshire Terrier

When searching for a family pet, it's often difficult to find one that seems just right for you. Different breeds possess different characteristics, some of which may not be right for yours and your families needs. The Dandie Dinmont Terrier, however, is the perfect house pet. It doesn't shed, is small enough to take along with you wherever you go, and it provides complete devotion to its human family.

The Dandie Dinmont Terrier gets its name from the 1812 novel, Guy Mannering. One of the characters, Dandie Dinmont, is a farmer who had six of the breed, and the novel was so popular that they became known thereafter as Dandie Dinmont Terriers. They are the first of the breed to receive a name. They have a very calm temperament with courage that draws most people to them. Their courage is only surpassed by their extreme loyalty and devotion to their families.

Surprisingly, his smaller size does not deter him from exhibiting a loud and deep bark, which makes him a wonderful watchdog. On the other hand, he is a very patient and gentle dog with children. Because of his devotion to his owners, he is hailed as more than just a dog. It has been reported that many owners who have owned this breed are loyal to the breed and refuse to even consider owning any other.

If you are looking for a dog that is going to be loyal, loving, and good to your children, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a good dog for you. His patience and temperament means you don't have to worry about him injuring your children because they irritate him or play too rough. A dog with this temperament is more likely to walk away than snap. He is a good watchdog who will protect you from unauthorized guests with his deep bark, but he will not be so prone to attack unless provoked.

Because of their loyalty, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a good dog for owners who want a family pet that will remain with them for all of their lives. Many people who own these kinds of dogs will own no others because of their loyalty and patience with children. They are hardy and intelligent dogs, which make them easy to train. They enjoy affection, and it is always well-deserved in this breed.

Although they are not bullies and prefer not to engage in confrontations, if they are backed against a wall, they will not back down. They will defend themselves and their families from danger if the need arises, but otherwise they prefer to take a back seat and protect without having to resort to any type of violence,¯it is not in their nature. This calm and patient nature will draw you quickly to a Dandie, making you become as devoted to him as he is to you. It is the kind of dog that everyone in your family can love and that friends and relatives can even enjoy on their visits without fear of an attack.
