We all love having pets, but not all pets are appropriate for all environments. For example, not every dog is meant to live in the city. In this article, we will look at how toy poodles will likely fare as city dogs. Some factors will be their exercise, staying indoors, and how trainable they are.

Exercise Time

Living in the city often means life in an apartment with limited space and possibly limited access to larger settings for dogs that require plenty of exercise. Luckily, toy poodles do not require excess amounts of exercise. They are right at home and adequately exercised usually in an apartment setting. While it is good to get out to a park occasionally, toy poodles can thrive in the apartment. Their little legs can get a good deal of exercise just by roaming through what space your apartment provides. This is also helpful if their owner is not very active or just does not have time or energy to make special trips to other exercise venues on an ongoing basis.

Indoor Setting

If a toy poodle is living in the city, then the majority of his time is likely to be spent indoors. Fortunately, this is ideal for the toy poodle. Because of his slight frame, he is susceptible to low temperatures so an indoor setting is perfect, especially during the cooler months of the year. His fur can only do so much to maintain his body temperature so the controlled environment of an apartment does the rest. Keeping his vital organs and joints at warm temperatures is ideal. This is very important after a bath because toy poodles dry slowly and require a warm place to protect them while they are in this vulnerable state. The warm surroundings also facilitate the drying process.

Training

In order for a pet and owner relationship to be successful, the pet must be able to learn the rules of the home. This is even more essential when you are working with limited space, as will probably be the case in the city. Toy poodles are very intelligent and highly trainable. They can learn just about anything and, even better, they can learn it quickly. They have a desire to please their owners which makes the training go by even faster. Toilet training and the rules of the apartment can be learned quickly and easily which will help you to get along with your toy poodle with little effort.

Pets are a fact of everyday life. They bring joy wherever they are, but not all pets are meant to live everywhere. City life is not ideal for all pets but suits toy poodles very well because they don't need much exercise, they thrive in an indoor setting, and they can learn almost anything. Basically, they make great roommates.
