Many Keeshond owners can teach their little dogs to do some fascinating tricks. Aside from agility training, there are some other tricks a Keeshond can do. What we as humans consider tricks are considered playing by the Keeshond. They have their own sets of tricks as well as the ones you teach them. Because the Keeshond bores easily, you should never make them perform all their tricks at one time, they can decide to give up and sit without listening. Keeshonds are great performers as well as clowns and try to make you happy in every way.

The Simple Tricks

Learning to roll over comes to mind of most Keeshond owners as well as shake, flip, and consume a dog treat off the tip of their nose. They are also known for taking their leash and taking themselves for a walk. The agility of their bodies also allows them to stand on the back legs and do a little dance. For the most part, the dog will do tricks for a reward, which is actually the only reason they do the trick. You can teach them to put their toys away, which is a trick in itself if they actually do it.

Some Showing Off Tricks

The Keeshond can be taught to jump over the fence, retrieve a ball, and jump back over. Although the trick is cute and takes practice and agility, they may decide to jump the fence whenever they want to. The Keeshond is very flexible and can do many tricks in the show ring as well. Jumping, running, tunneling, and searching for things is just some of the more complex tricks you can teach your dog. You can easily teach your dog to do some easy tricks or some complex tricks.

Training and Tricks

Once you decide you want to teach your Keeshond some tricks, you can start with simple tricks like roll over, shake, and dance. These tricks are usually done with anticipation of the reward you are holding in your hand. Once you have a few standard tricks done, you can move on to more intense tricks, but it also depends on the dog whether those tricks are going to be absolutely necessary to learn. They do have a mind of their own and may just want to do the simple tricks rather than the harder ones. They are the only ones who can decide.

Take Time Teaching Tricks

Do not expect your dog to master the trick in one day, and do not keep at it for long periods. This only frustrates the Keeshond and they will give up and do something they enjoy. They want to please you, but you have to please them as well. Even if the trick is attempted and not completely right on the first couple tries, you still need to give them a reward for trying. If you do not give the reward for trying, they will more than likely give up completely. Take plenty of time to rest before the next trick session.
