I have a new roommate who has witnessed my 9-year-old Standard Poodle, Tommy, kissing and grooming a very shy rescue cat. She calls him the Gandi of Dogs. This morning I was smashed into a tiny corner of a very big bed and sat up, wondering why. This same shy cat was curled up between me and the Gandi of dogs! Also, Tommy had somehow figured out how to use my legs and the cat's side as a pillow! I just acquired a second cat who was much more friendly to humans but was not happy about Tommy's Size. This morning I found him ALMOST licking this VERY NEW cat and the cat was purring! Hurrah for Standard Poodles!
how sweet! when we got our 2 kittens one was very afraid of pearl and her exuberance, but now the kitty is used to her and goes up and lays by her and licks her, and pearl looks at me like "ummm.....what is going on here?"
My older schnauzer tried to baby the younger one when we got him. She would lick his head till his hair was all slicked back and try to clean his face and ears and eyes. He used to surrender and let her do it, but since he's gotten older he won't put up with it. It's so sweet how they have that instinct.
