My puppy Tucker is absolutely the smelliest dog I have ever been around. He just has a very strong body smell. It doesn't even smell like "dog". It's really gross and also very embarrassing when we're in public. I'm sure people think I never bathe my dog or brush his teeth (his breath smells too). Does anybody have an suggestions?

Yeah. They did that when he was neutered a couple of weeks ago. I don't know for sure but I really don't think its anything medical. Maybe it is, but I really feel like its just him. He's the sweetest dog and he loves to give kisses and I love getting them of course, but oh! the smell.
Remember the post that linked to the vinegar page? There was a recipe for air freshener there: 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 Tablespoon vinegar, and 2 cups water. I have discovered that it not only neutralizes the air, but it also neutralizes the dog! I set the spray bottle so that it's a light mist and just mist her .
Let me know if it works for you. My hubby was complaining to Missy (whille lovin' up on her) that she's a stinky dog. I told him to check this out! And misted her . Now smell, I said. He looked very surprised and told Missy that she was neutralized.
Paigebeverly I think that is true. Our old dog never had to have her anal glands done, but one of schnauzers now has to get it done every other month or so. Our youngest shnauzer has never had to have it done. You can definitely tell when it needs done though, let me tell you!!
My vet always checks the anal glands while they are being spayed/neutered to see if it needs to be done. Tucker has always smelled this way and he was neutered almost 3 wks. ago and they said he didn't it done so I know its not that. I don't have any vinegar. I must have used it all for the easter eggs this passed easter. I am going to the supermarket when I pick up my daughter from school
Tucker is on Solid Gold kibble which has no corn (we just started this, he was on nutro, which doesn't have any either) and he eats Bravo raw. So the corn isn't the problem. Could some of his treats possible have corn? He doesn't get many treats though (he's starting to get a little chunky). I have to find the cause of this. Some days (like today) it's just almost unbearable. I'm being lazy and I'm stretched out on the sofa right now and he's laying with me with his head on my shoulder and WHEW!
Our Pom (Spazzy) had really bad breath and I tried everything to get rid of it to no avail. After the Pom was hit (car) I got Snuggle, I fed him the same treats as Spazzy not thinking about it. Before I knew it Snuggle had the very same breath... it was the Pupperoni. I stopped that, now Snuggle only smells when he needs his face washed (he's a poodle and if his eyes aren't cleaned often that smells)
Simba smells bad most of the time, it's his ears and he has really sensitive skin that makes his fur oily. He also gets hot spots and when they aren't found and treated they smell really bad.
