Oh you guys are breaking my heart here. I can practically guarantee that if you if you ever spent any time at all with a Chinese Crested or a Xolo, you would fall absolutely head over heels in love. They are a very unique breed and have personalities like no other dogs I've ever met. I swear they are part toddler, part cat, part monkey, and part alien.
Xolos (espeically the standard Xolos) can be very prey driven and would absolutely excel at lure coursing.
You're also forgetting the other hairless breeds that are wonderful as well. There's the Peruvian Inca Orchid, the Khala, and the American Hairless Terrier.
The standard says 9" to 13" inches. Bandit is just under the standard, I have two (on of my one and a foster) that are within standard at 11", and one (foster) that is way above the standard at 16" and weighs 22 lbs. He still fits on my lap though. Bandit weighs 8 lbs, Pixie & Loco weigh 12, and then there's Copper at a whopping 22 (and he's on a diet...he needs to lose at least 2 lbs if not 3 lbs).
I don't show or breed, I am merely a pet owner as well as a rep for a national chinese crested breed rescue group.
