I have 6 dogs that insist on barking at every thing that moves. At least they used to...I have them trained now to know that the word quiet means no more barking. I did it with a light tap on the nose and the words no more. Now if they start and I go out in the yard it gets as quiet as a church without me saying anything.
I dont care about the barking at home. She usually only barks then when there's someone in the driveway, walking outside, or just her usual schnauze self. It's when we're out in public she acts like a devil dog.
Merico, what I do for my incredibly smart, trained dogs (lol jk!) is squirt them with water. When Ace barks we give him a squirt and say "enough!" and he's quiet. Pretty much now all I've got to do is say "enough" & he's quiet. And also the sight of the water bottle alone is enough to get him to be on his best behavior. =-)
she rolls on her back AND gives high five. omg i hate you! lol jk!!! but really, what do you feed her? she's too smart. oh, and I was also wondering how long you work with her each day. ive seriously been slacking in that.
when you figure it out let me know. thunder drives me crazy when he barks at people outdoors. i have tried the citronella collar and it was a waste of money. my mom used the electronic collars on some of the shepherds she had and they learned when the collar was on they couldnt bark but when it was off they could. didnt really train them not to bark. right now, i just give thunder a pop on the leash with the words enough or quiet. sometimes it works and other times he just says screw you and keeps barking.
You spray it at their noses so they get the most of the bad smell. If it gets in their eyes it stings a little but it's harmless (yes happened to me before). Even if you spray their body, generally the strong smell mixed with the shock of being hit with the water is plenty.
